Now that fall has officially begun, it’s time to take a look at the hottest shoe trends of the Autumn ’10 / Winter ’11 season. Keep in mind that the fashion world operates in cycles so if you have some items which are now “out” you should just set them aside and wait for when they come back in style!
Battle the Cold Weather with Hot Shoes!
The first big shoe trend for the Fall 2010 and Winter 2011 season is the oxford style. Masculine/feminine combinations have been very “in” all year and this is just another example. Oxfords have a reputation for being boring and unflattering but this year, designers have taken it upon themselves to make these quirky shoes more chic than ever.
Over-the-knee boots are also making a resurgence this year which demonstrates a departure from last fall’s trend of ankle boots and booties. Thigh-high boots can be a bit intimidating at first but choosing a pair that makes you comfortable will be key. The good news is that they come in many different forms such as high heels, flats, wedges, etc.
Clogs are another hot trend for the Fall 2010 / Winter 2011 season and this is slightly shocking because clogs are known for being anything but fashionable. Clog bottoms are also surprisingly versatile because they will be found on ankle boots, knee-high boots, and everything in between.
2011 winter shoe trends
Military inspired fashion was seen all over the place during Fashion Week events around the world so it’s no surprise to see it again in the shoes. Look for shoe styles which have taken on the military theme while still keeping things feminine. The Button Flannel Bootie by Christian Louboutin is a great example of this trend because the boot itself is a very feminine peep-toed high heel, but the military details are seen with the placement of the buttons across the front.
Last but certainly not least, ladylike and refined styles have made their way back “in” this season. Instead of the sky-high heels with intense and intimidating designs that have become the norm, be on the lookout for delicate shoes which have a demure design and a significantly lower heel.
